Integrated Manufacturing Systems (IMS),

Rotherham and Eastleigh, (1995 - 2000)

Positions Held
Consultancy and Training Manager 1995 - 1998
Senior Consultant 1998 - 2000
Consultancy & Training Manager:

I was responsible for the management of consultants and trainers to implement, support, project manage and advise on the implementation of integrated computer systems (Unix / AIX, networked PC & dumb terminal servers) covering: manufacturing, production planning and control, stock control, order processing, shopfloor data capture, accounts and costing. I was also designing and conducting classroom and on-site training in systems and techniques as well as providing pre-sales support.

Senior Consultant:

My responsibilities included BPR consultancy and change management of systems implementations, systems design and software development specification and testing work. I was also required to provide pre-sales, 2nd level support and systems consultancy for IMS clients and prospective clients for CIM, MRP-MRPII / ERP applications. I organised and conducted user training (classroom and on-site) and produced and maintained user documentation for Uniplan application modules - as well as gave user group presentations and lectures and represented the company on exhibition stands.

I provided IMS with internal quality systems consultancy and their quality manual for the IMS QS to satisfy BS EN ISO 9001 and ISO 9000-3 (TickIT) standards.

Reasons for Leaving:

The advent of IR35 and a recession in manufacturing industry (IMS's main market) pushed IMS into having to revise their organisation and my contract and, not wishing to join them as an employee, I continued to operate as a self-employed consultant and contractor undertaking assignments for them as a senior consultant.
